Honouring a Media Giant: Q.S. Aminu Abubakar Suleiman Pays Tribute to Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed
Q.S. Aminu Abubakar Suleiman has mourned the death of renowned journalist and elder statesman, Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed, extending his sympathies to the bereaved family and members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists.
He described the late media icon as one of the architects of investigative journalism in Nigeria, whose bold reporting, ethical standards, and dedication to truth left a lasting imprint on the nation’s democratic journey. He noted that Alhaji Yakubu Mohammed, a native of Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, was deeply committed to public service and national development.
Q.S. Aminu highlighted his role in the founding of the influential Newswatch Magazine, an achievement that reshaped media practice in the country, as well as his service as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he contributed meaningfully to academic leadership.
He prayed that Allah (SWT) grants him Aljannatul Firdaus and gives strength and comfort to all those grieving this irreplaceable loss.
